meet kelly

kelly had come into the coffee shop earlier that nite and chatted with amy for a while, but i wasn't introduced to him until i saw him at the bar. thin guy, 26 but looks older, short cropped black hair, cut-up sleeveless shirt--punk rock for sure. we started chatting a little. tell him about being on the road and in my car for a few days. seems like a cool guy. tells me about a book i should read-Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. then he and shibazz?? go to the bar and bet the bartender they can finish a pitcher of beer in under a minute by drinking it thru a couple of straws. if i heard correctly, the bet was: win=free pitcher / lose=pay 2x the cost. so the two of them syphon half the pitcher in about 30 seconds, but the straws aren't long enough to reach the bottom half. so the bartender let's them drink directly from the pitcher for the rest of it. and they pass it back and forth between large gulps. sure enough it's gone in 54 seconds.
