news, updates, and tidbits

Hello Everyone!!
I want to extend a warm thank you and best wishes to Danny and Nina, a very talented and amazing couple, who are embarking on a unique adventure of their own, and who have been kind enough to mention me on their site - here. I found out about these two, thru ampcamp.com, an online independent music retailer, of which Danny used to be the president of. They are a couple in their mid-twenties, who like myself, share a passion for life, music, and art; and they are letting you and the rest of world decide where they will spend the next year of their lives, by voting online from over 250 cities and towns. The first location to receive 1,000,000 votes is where they will move to. i've already voted a couple times myself, and have expressed my hope that they'll end up any place other than florida; as florida is my personal hell. Find out more about Danny and Nina on their website. In the meantime, know this - Danny and Nina are super cool, talented, artistic, have fine taste in music... and may be moving to a town near you. make it happen!

And my own close and personal friends, John and Judy, have also embarked on a unique adventure together; more similar to my own, but with bicycles, not a "Deathcab." send them some love too!!

And finally, in case any of you have been wondering what i've been up to -

I 've spent most of the last 2 months pretending to be a web designer. Yeah, pretty dull, i know. I just finished my first professional website for "Whatever It Takes", a documentary film following the students and staff of a small school in the South Bronx, thru the school's inaugural year. My pal, Scott Lyon had been working on the same film as a producer. I joined him on one of the last days of shooting back in July in the South Bronx. I was initially hired on for the day as a photographer to take pictures of the cast & crew, but somehow, that experience eventually led to me becoming the sole designer of the film's website and promotional materials - which can all be viewed as part of my design portfolio (by the way i'm definitely for hire).
I recommend watching the extended trailer of the movie, as it's pretty moving. It's why i ultimately decided to take on the project, though i haven't and won't receive any payment for it, until the movie starts pulling in some money itself. Which, it fortunately just started doing a couple days ago - won $5000 from PBS for the "2nd Annual "Best Pitch" Award @ the Museum of Television & Radio DocFest" in NYC. woo-hoo!!

In other news, I enjoyed another first - DJing. at Black Cat in Boone, NC on 10/12/06. good times... more about that another day though.

Hope all is well, much love everyone,
xoxox
Jamie
