for my sons and daughters

made it to lawrence. stopped off at a gas station just outside of town and was intrigued, yet bored out of my mind, to hear 3 different conversations-all of them about some high school football game. hmm....?? i would've slit my wrists if my swiss army knife could've done the job. downtown lawrence seems pretty cool nonetheless. nice little strip. some good areas. relatively safe environment, as is columbia it seems. got there a couple hours before the show started and just wandered about. really fucking hot here. there's no shade anywhere. started noticing that from southern illinois on. trees are few and far between and the ones that are around don't do jackshit. the doors to the granada started piling with people around 7pm. lots of trendy lookin young hipsters. been there, done that. none of the kids look above 21. and everyone who is older seems like 40+. it's probably just my hangover and exhaustion talking, but i don't have much patience for this town right now. though, i probably would come back again just to see my Sons and Daughters.
